ABOUT THE SDGS SHORT FILM CHALLENGE

The SDGs Film Challenge and Awards is an initiative of FreshNEWS Media Group in partnership with the United Nations, the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Nigerian President on Sustainable Development Goals, One Planet Foundation and other stakeholders. We are proud to launch a challenge geared towards provoking actions for actualization of a better and safer world.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a very important set of goals. As a successor framework to the Millennium Development Goals, the SDGs, a bold and transformative 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by world leaders in September 2015, at the United Nations comprises 17 Global Goals, which will guide policy and funding between 2016 and 2030. The SDGs seeks to permanently end poverty everywhere, protect the planet from degradation, foster peace, realize human rights while trying to balance the three dimensions of development that is economic, social and environmental.

Attaining the SDGs requires a whole of society approach, including deploying creative arts as a strategic tool for advocacy and sensitization and social mobilization.

With focus on all the SDGs, and recognizing the pivotal roles of stakeholders, we will be stimulating creativity to showcase educative, informative and entertaining films around the seventeen (17) Goals.
