Challenge & Prizes

The winning entry will receive a grand prize of One Million Naira (N1,000,000) cash prize while the 1st and 2nd runner ups receive Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) and Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N250,000) respectively.

The winners will be drawn from 17 selected finalists to be announced at the Grand Finale in Abuja on the 1st of December, 2022.

Entry & Submission

The following shall constitute the terms of entry to the Challenge, and the submission of a film shall constitute entrants’ agreement to the terms set out herein.

  • To enter the Challenge, participants must upload their film (not more than 15 minutes in length) to the filmfreeway platform, accessible at: https://filmfreeway.com/sdgsfilmchallengeandawards
  • For a successful entry, it is essential to familiarize yourself with the Challenge’s full description and criteria, and the terms and conditions set forth by filmfreeway as the Organisers shall not assume responsibility arising from the breach of any of the terms.
 

The Challenge

The SDGs Film Challenge and Awards is articulated in the following phases.

(i) Submission phase: this is the general submission period. Entries can be submitted from 25th of September to 25th of November, 2022. All submitted films will be uploaded on the Organisers Digital Screening Platforms.

(ii) Reviewing phase: out of all submitted entries, the Top 17 eligible entries will be selected by a panel of reviewers and will be advanced to the judging phase.

(iii) Judging phase: the jury will evaluate the 17 selected films and select the top three entries.

  • The special categories of this Challenge are: The Jury’s Choice, Viewers’ Choice and Best Foreign Film.
  • The prizes will be awarded during the Grand Finale.
  • Participants may use any type of film or photo technology in their entries, including but not limited to video, mobile camera and web camera.
  • All non-English Films must be subtitled in English Language.
  • Contestants will be automatically notified upon the successful submission of their entries.
  • The decision by the Challenge jury is considered final and binding.
 

Terms

  1. Entrants must grant Freshnews and One Planet Foundation a worldwide, royalty-free, sub-licensable and irrevocable license to show, screen and/or broadcast their submitted films, in all media, in whole or in part, without limitation for a period of 12 (twelve) months from the Challenge awards day.
  1. Freshnews and One Planet Foundation shall not be liable for any claims of any nature and kind, from either an entrant or any other third-party, based on, arising from, or relating to films submitted by entrants to the Challenge, including any damage or defect caused to the submitted films resulting from their use on third-party sites such as FilmFreeway, YouTube and Vimeo, and the use of the films by the Freshnews TV and One Planet Foundation in accordance with the present terms and conditions.
  1. Freshnews and One Planet Foundation reserves the right to cancel, modify, suspend or delay the Challenge in the event of unforeseen circumstances beyond its reasonable control. Freshnews and One Planet Foundation further reserves the right to change, amend, delete or add to these terms and conditions at any time. Participants will be notified [via FilmFreeway] of any changes and may withdraw their entry on request.
